On the occasion of 8th March, the International Women’s Day, Makedonski Telekom is launching an initiative for supporting women – victims of domestic violence. The goal is to raise the public awareness about this adverse phenomenon which is on the rise every day and to provide support to these women who are living on the margins through a joint donation action. The Telekom customers will participate in the action by donating hearts in Magenta Moments, which Telekom will convert into a financial donation; all citizens will also be able to participate with a donation on the OpOp platform and the donation number 143 333. The action symbolically begins on the International Women's Day, and the donations will be active for an entire month.

Domestic violence, especially against women, is an increasingly common occurrence. Recent research shows that 1 in 3 women in Macedonia is a victim of domestic violence. Through the joint donation action, we aspire to emphasize collective responsibility, condemn violence and support the victims.

Donation of hearts via Magenta Moments

In this humanitarian action, all Telekom customers can donate hearts in Magenta Moments, through the TelekomMK application. At the end of the month, Telekom will convert the donated hearts into a financial donation to the Crisis Centre "Nadez" (“Hope”), which has been working to support women - victims of domestic violence for more than 23 years.

Donations at 143 333 and the donation platform OpOp

Additionally, all citizens will be able to donate for the same purpose through the group donation platform OpOp of Konekt, a civic organization that encourages donation and social responsibility. The platform is supported by the Foundation Telekom for Macedonia and it enables secure and simple donations for multiple causes and organizations. Additionally, the citizens can donate 100 denars with each phone call to the number 143 333, which Konekt will allocate for this specific donation in the course of this month.

More on the Crisis Centre “Nadez” (“Hope”):

Кризен центар Надеж is an organization which has been operating for 23 years with a view to supporting women – victims of domestic violence. The organization comprises an operating a shelter centre located in Skopje and a psychological counselling centre. The victims are provided with support through an SOS line, psycho-social support, assistance in the process of reporting violence, and a safe haven to start a new life.
