Makedonski Telekom once again won the prestigious Ookla® award, for the best network

The fastest mobile and fixed network and the best mobile network

This year, Makedonski Telekom once again won the prestigious Ookla® award, for the best network. The results indicate the fastest speed of the mobile and the fixed network and the best quality of the mobile network in the first half of 2024*. Ookla® is a worldwide leader in analysing and testing network quality and speed, while the Speedtest AwardsTM are the result of a six-month thorough examination and analysis of customer-initiated tests, which are validated with the Speedtest® apps.

In terms of the network speed, 160,564 tests were made for the mobile network, while 948,686 tests were made for the fixed network. The data show that both the mobile and the fixed network of Makedonski Telekom are the best on the market as compared to the competition with a Speed ScoreTM of 148.78 for the mobile network and a Speed ScoreTM of 52.77 for the fixed network.

This is the second acknowledgement for the performances of the network of Makedonski Telekom this year. According to the measurement of the mobile network quality conducted by the Agency for Electronic Communications (AEC), the network of Makedonski Telekom is in the first position with a score of 637.7, which is the highest score in Macedonia.

The superiority of the network of Makedonski Telekom is the result of long-term and strategic investment, pioneering ventures aimed at expansion and modernization of the mobile and fixed network. Our 5G network continues expanding and it is available to 92% of the population in Macedonia with gigabit speeds in most of the cities. The numbers confirm the leadership also in the segment of fibre optic infrastructure which has been intensively expanding. Telekom has almost 3 times more households covered with a fibre optic infrastructure as compared to all other operators on the market together, i.e. 330 thousand access points for fibre optic, which is higher by 13.9% as compared to the same period in the previous year.
